MiniMizer Extra

The MiniMizer Extra adjustable gastric band with variable 2–phase closure is the first result of our collaboration with surgeons. Its soft, elastic material makes the MiniMizer Extra extremely tissue-friendly. The retaining loops secure the gastric band against dislocation. The enormous elasticity of the retaining loops – up to 400%– minimises risk of avulsion of the attachment. Retaining loops secure the gastric band against dislocation.

A large number of surgeons appreciate the pre-formed gastric band, which allows it to be drawn easily through the posterior tunnelling of the stomach and facilitates placement. In many cases, the decision as to the size, i.e. diameter, of the gastric band best-suited for a given patient can only be made during the operation. Here too, surgeons have the option to decide intra-operatively, because MiniMizer products feature a 2-phase closure system.

The first closure phase has an inner diameter of 31 mm or a band length of about 11 cm. The second closure phase has an inner diameter of 26 mm or a band length of about 10 cm. The closure instrument is a convenient tool for closing the gastric band. Seromuscular sutures through the retaining loops serve to attach the gastric band to the anterior wall of the stomach without plication. The MiniMizer Port is absolutely patient-friendly and very easily punctured for gastric band adjustment. The inner diameter of the gastric band is reduced by adjusting the outlet.
