By applying the procedure described above efficient weight-loss is achieved, with similar long-term complications with regard to deficiencies. If insufficient weight-loss occurs after a lap band insertion where the band was positioned correctly and there were no complaints, the duodenal switch may be applied as an additional means of achieving weight reduction while leaving the lap band in place.
